    Full Description

    If you love food and cooking, then this package is for you. It includes a range of food and drink experiences – from a tapas tour in San Sebastian to a cider house dinner and interactive cooking class – as well as a two-night hotel stay in Gran Domine Bilbao and transport.

    Sit back and relax as you’re taken from the airport straight to your hotel for a welcome reception, before heading out into the old town for an early evening taste of the city. For dinner, you will enjoy an authentic Basque gastronomic experience in a former salt warehouse – now a modern restaurant. Menus can be provided before arrival, and local bars and venues can also be recommended.

    Day 1

    Start your experience with breakfast in the hotel, before heading to San Sebastian (an hour’s journey) where you will embark on a pintxos (Basque tapas) tour with an English-speaking guide.

    During the tour, you will visit four bars to taste their pintxo specialties, which you can pair with wine, beer or soft drinks. After your tour, you will be taken to the surrounding mountains to learn about the region’s cider production and enjoy a steak dinner at the cider house.

    The traditional menu features fresh cod tortilla and salad, followed by steak, and a selection of cheeses served with quince. After dinner you will be taken back to your hotel in Bilbao.

    Day 2

    Enjoy breakfast in the hotel before embarking on the real culinary experience – an interactive cooking class with a Michelin-starred chef.

    You will assist a board of chefs in a Basque ‘txoko’ (social house), using a variety of equipment and techniques – from blowtorches to liquid nitrogen – to prepare classic ingredients such as mushrooms, crayfish and shellfish, as well as more avant-garde offerings such as exotic herbs and jellies.

    Some recipes examples include:
    – Cooked crayfish carpaccio with mace
    – Bacalao al pil pil (cod with a Basque sauce)
    – Microwaved cake

    A professional photographer will immortalise this unforgettable experience, and you will be able to enjoy your own creation in this fantastic txoko. Your trip will end with transportation back to the airport.

    Please note that all transport is included in this experience, with a bus that seats up to 25 people.
